Lavender

Botanical Name

Lavandula officinalis

Botany

The plant is a widely cultivated perennial shrub. The flowers are arranged in false whorls at the ends of the stems. The inflorescence is stripped and dried before the flowering is finished. Because the petals readily fall off during the drying process, the product consists mainly of the tubular-ovoid, ribbed, bluish-gray calices.
